About Large Providers

Definition

A large provider is one that:

  • operates 25 or more services
  • when combined with one or more related providers, the total number of services operated is 25 or more
  • plans to operate 25 or more services, either individually or when combined with a related provider.

Providers are related providers if:

  • both providers have at least 25% of persons with management or control (PMCs) in common
  • one provider owns 15% or more of the other
  • one provider is entitled to receive 15% or more of any dividends paid by another provider.

The list of large providers, including the services they operate, is based on data available at a point in time and is subject to change.

As ‘large providers’ may include providers who are one of 2 or more related providers and who together share operations, some of the provider names listed often represent a number of provider entities who may have different provider names.

Financial reporting obligations

Large providers must report financial information to the Australian Government Department of Education, including information about revenue, profits, and leasing arrangements

We publish this information to improve the transparency of early childhood education and care costs and increase the amount of information available to families when choosing a service.
